Isaiah 43:1-3, 7, 10-13

But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior... Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth—everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.... “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God. Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”

The Unbloggable Trip

So, we are in Abilene! As we were waiting in the Miami airport for our connecting flight to Dallas, I told Trish who had traveled with us that the trip had gone so smoothly that I should do a blog about it being unbloggable! Thanks for all your prayers.

-Besides a rerouted flight through La Paz, there were no missed, delayed or canceled flights.
-Neither Trish or I had any problems in immigration!
-The kids did great on the flights - thanks to Trish and a portable DVD player - although naturally we were very tired by the time we reached Dallas.
-We ate Pizza Hut in the Miami airport!
-Our bag and stroller made it just fine on all flights.
-We got to stay with my Uncle Ken in Dallas the first night.
-We are now enjoying time with my family at the Guilds - who happen to be grandparents, ex-missionaries, and parents of missionareis and so are very understanding about traveling with little kids.
-I've made one trip to Walmart and one to my favorite Christian bookstore - Mardels! - and spent too much money.
-I'm missing my husband a lot and appreciating all you single parents out there!
-I went to a mall and ate southwestern eggrolls (my favorite!) at Chili's today with our good friends the Holways.

And finally, I thought I'd put down a few missionary kid funnies...
-You know you're an MK when you are amazed by water fountains and mailboxes. Michaela wants to drink from every water fountain, and when she went on a walk today with my mom was excited about all the mailboxes.
-You know you're an MK when you notice that there aren't any taxis and buses on the road.
-The girls call McDonald's "Old McDonald's".
-Michaela said the Miami airport smelled like a mall. I told her it's the smell of America!

And I won't even get started on all my amazements :) It's great to be in the USA!

Sucre!!

We left on Wednesday for a trip to Sucre to visit Uncle Erik, Aunt Jenny, and cousins Zion and Mia. It's been a year and a half since the girls and I came... high time for another visit. Thursday we celebrated Michaela's 4th birthday with birthday pancakes, a trip to a public park that has some fun kiddy rides, a grill out, and then dinner at the new mall/food court in Sucre - complete with a play area for kids. Thanks, Jenny and Erik, for making it a special day!

Friday was Labor Day in Bolivia - so we took advantage of the day off to go to the dinosaur park with the kids - a cool place they have discovered tons of fossils and footprints of many species of dinosaurs. They had fun - after Zion and Eliana got over their fear that the lifesize statues of dinosaurs (complete with mechanical sounds) were going to eat them!

And finally I thought I'd share some of my favorite pics from our trip so far....

Please be praying for the girls and I... We leave here on Monday with Josh to fly to Santa Cruz and then from there - we're coming Stateside for 3 weeks! I'd appreciate your prayers over all the details of our flights and immigration.
