Isaiah 43:1-3, 7, 10-13

But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior... Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth—everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.... “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God. Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”

Thanksgiving Day Psalm

New
He desires that all things in relation to HIm be New
New Creations, having the old being purged, replaced forever by the New! (2 Cor 5:17)
It is not the exteriors He desires but a New heart and New spirit...His New creation (Gal 6:15, Ez 11:19; 18:31: 36:26)

He carefully planned a New covenant with his people, not because the old was deficient but because the New was personally acquired by Him (Jer. 31:31; Lk 22:20; 1 Cor 11:25, Heb 8:13, 9:10)
It was a relationship built on mature commitment, not in detail-bound written arrangement but upon risky vows, the New way of the Spirit (Rom 7:6)
Why this infatuation with the New?
Do we deserve the brand new?  Personally I believe we should be satisfied with options marked used or refurbished on our wish list
but no...He wants us to have that which is perfect.
He wants us to experience the best!
The best New wine (Is. 36:17; Jer 31:12; Joel 2:24, 3:18; Amos 9:13)
a better New song (Is. 42:10; Rev. 14:3)
To erase our past in one full sweep and stamp New names of glory by which we will now be known (Is. 62:8; Rev. 2:17, 3:12)

The Lord declares, “The former things have come to pass, behold New things spring forth (Is. 42:7)
“See.....I am doing a New thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland” (Is. 43:19)

Participation with the Holy is conferred on us
though the New and living way opened for us through the curtain...his body. (Heb 10:20)
through New birth we experience a living hope (1 Pet. 1:3)
one that is based on His compassion which never fails but is....Yes, New every morning (Lam 3:22-23)

When our Lord came to earth He brought a New teaching (Mar 1:27)

a New command to love as He had loved, and give as he had given (Jn 13:34)
He said,  “Go, stand in the public places, and tell the people the full message of this New life.” (Acts. 5:20; cf. Rom 6:4)
“I make possible a New self which is ever renewed in the image of its Creator. (Col 3:10)
a self with a New interior of mind (Eph 4:23)
Though we don’t deserve his abundant generosity, newness he offers us.  He guarantees the best, ensures the most pure, and perfects all that comes unto Him.

Let us listen to Him on this day and be thankful.
He who is seated on the throne says, “I am making everything New!”  “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Rev. 21:5)

Top Ten Furlough Highlights

After weeks of best intentions, I finally have finished the blog post about our US assignment....  Although we were exhausted by the end from all of the traveling (we drove from Michigan to Oklahoma to Arkansas to Nebraska to Wyoming to Colorado to Kansas to Texas and back to Michigan with a quick flight to Pennsylvania for Josh as well), we were blessed beyond measure by all the fellowship and memories we made.

1.  Greenfield Village with Nyanya and Babu

2.  Summer Jam at Livonia Church of Christ - the girls first VBS experience!

3.  Vacation with Nyanya and Babu at Lake Michigan

4.  4 generations on the Marcum family ranch

5.  Family Pictures 2012

6.  Sikes Reunion 2012

7.  Reuniting with old friends

8.  Legoland with Matt and Janille

9.  Time with Family in Michigan

And last but not least!
10.  Time with the Harrold family in Wichita where we were pampered beyond belief (from Chuckie Cheese's for the kids, to a shopping spree and a massage for me, to dinner out)... unfortunately due to loosing my camera on our trip back to Ecuador (big bummer!), I don't have any pictures of our time together.
