For all of you who have ever lived or spent much time overseas.... Have you ever had one of those moments when you're walking down the street and see someone wearing something that you wish you could just go up to them and ask if they REALLY know what their clothing says??? Well, one of the sisters at church just gave Jana the sweetest little outfit - and I'm quite sure that she didn't know what it said. When Josh and I opened it up, we nearly died laughing! I just don't know how I'm ever in good conscience going to put the following outfit on my baby!
Isaiah 43:1-3, 7, 10-13
But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior... Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth—everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.... “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God. Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”

Julie,
Who was it at Komarock who would serve at the Table wearing a Tusker T-shirt?! Mom
Oh my! That is hilarious!

That is too funny!!! I always remember the story of a fellow AET in Japan (who happened to be at the only school that didn't have school uniforms). One day, she saw a boy walking down the hall wearing a pink T-shirt. She thought that was odd, but hey, this is Japan. After they passed each other, she turned around and looked at the back of his shirt, and it said, "Quit staring at my boobs!"
Tusker is a Kenyan beer, just in case anyone was wondering!
In Japan, there was a young Christian man that would often help serve the Lord's Supper and he usually had a catchy English T-shirt on. (For Example, one day he at shirt with the phrase "Nebraska State Tree" underneath a picture of the fieldgoal uprights on a football field.) One Sunday morning as he was standing in front of the auditorium helping at the table, all of the Americans at church starting cracking up. This young man was obviously wearing a shirt not realizing what it said. It had a picture of a lazy Mexican sitting ontop of a donkey. The caption read, "I'm just sitting on my ---" (Insert a 3 letter word which can mean either a stubborn horselike animal or behind.( I )
That's a tough one! How sweet to get a gift for your little one...but really - what do you do????!!!! I can't picture it on any of your sweet girls.

Funny!!! Makes me think of a shirt I saw for sale in the shops here in PNG. It read, "Texas - the LONG Star State".
Great baby suit!
I see these odd English phrases on t-shirts all the time - especially non-existent university names.
I have a blog called "cultural moments" and your post showed up in my google alerts.
Good luck with your travels!
