Isaiah 43:1-3, 7, 10-13

But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior... Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth—everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.... “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God. Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”

Michaela Grace turns 5!

We celebrated Michaela's 5th birthday last month. It's so hard to believe that 5 years ago we welcomed this little bundle of Grace into the world... She changed our world, in a marvelous way...

and she's grown into this lovely young lady...

Michaela is so full of life! She is active and outgoing. She loves her school and friends. She is learning to read and can count to one hundred. She loves playing outside and with her sisters. I think it's precisely because of her social nature that she wanted a big Bolivian style party this year, so we decided to go all out. She chose a "Princess and the Frog" theme... problem being that because it's a new movie, there was nothing available here in the way of decorations. Everything ended up being homemade. It made for a fun week though, because Michaela enjoys anything crafty and so we were able to work together to make the party preparations. We invited all her classmates and all the little children from church (30 kids in all!), and rented a big inflatable slide for the morning. We made a bean bag/ water balloon toss and a homemade pinata. It was a lot of work, but a fun morning!

The party spread... everything in green or chocolate.

Frog cupcakes

The slide

The water balloon toss... You can't see it, but there is an adult behind the cardboard, to make it more fun for the kids ;)

Singing happy birthday

The birthday bags - as one of the treats, the little girls all got tiaras and the little boys got frog eye sunglasses.

We celebrated Michaela's birthday the week before she turned 5 because we had plans to go visit Erik, Jenny and the cousins in Sucre on her actual birthday. We enjoyed seeing the kids play together for a couple days and catching up with them after their furlough in the States and before we head stateside in 2 weeks. We got to see their new house... and enjoy their jacuzzi bathtub!... went to the children's park to ride the ferris wheel (I forgot the camera :(, and made another trip to the dinosaur park (didn't take pictures there cause it cost!).

Cousins

Mia is now walking and it was fun to see her and Jana interacting.

Their favorite thing to do was to ride Zion's little cars down the cobblestone hill outside the gate of their condo. So funny!

What a cute idea. I think after this next furlough trip we should have Addison and Michaela become pen pals. Addison loves mail and I think it could be fun. Happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter.
